Real Madrid coach Ancelotti admits 'lacking goals' after Villarreal stalemate

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was unhappy with their performance for Saturday's 0-0 draw with Villarreal.

The Italian coach recognises that his team's goals have dried up a little in recent weeks, but he was more concerned by the manner of their performance in the first half against Villarreal.

"We have lacked goals in the last few games. With a bit of success and luck we could have scored; we've had three one-on-ones, hit the crossbar twice..." Ancelotti explained.

"I'm worried about the team when they are not creating chances to score. We need to be more clinical, but I was more worried about the team in the first half, when they were not very committed."

Vinicius Junior was targeted throughout his time on the pitch during Real Madrid's match against Villarreal on Saturday, with Unai Emery's side regularly fouling him, but Ancelotti does not think it is a big issue.

"I'm not worried. He has to understand that this can happen," he commented.

"He has to stay focused on the game. He played a good game, he doesn't have to waste energy on these things."
