Real Madrid sports director Jorge Valdano insists they never made a move for Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho in the summer.

Valdano maintains that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and Manuel Pellegrini were the two names discussed with president Florentino Perez.

"It is not true that we were interested in him, we never had any contact, among other things because he has a contract with Inter," said Valdano.

"With Florentino we only had two coaches in mind, Pellegrini and Wenger."
