Real Madrid Castilla coach Raul praises Rodrygo Goes after goalscoring performance

Real Madrid Castilla coach Raul praised Rodrygo Goes after victory over Rayo Majadahonda.

Rodrygo Goes dropped down to Raul's side after scoring with the first team in midweek against Osasuna.

The 18-year-old continued his goalscoring form by netting the second goal in the 3-1 win, and Raul was asked a host of questions about Rodrygo after the game.

"Rodrygo motivates himself," Raul said.

"From the beginning, the situation with him has been clear: he is a first-team player but when he can help Castilla, or Castilla can help him, he will come and play.

"He has played at a high level [with Santos in Brazil and in midweek for Real Madrid] and has sacrificed himself, like all of his teammates.

"[On Friday] he was training with us, and although we don't know each other that well, every time that he comes [and trains with Castilla], he gives his all and everyone sees his potential.

"He will be watching his progression and knocking down doors."

When asked about Rodrygo's characteristics, Raul seemed to be lost for words.

"Rodrygo has everything," he noted. "He can score, join attacks, help back in defence... Today we asked him to do a lot of things he is not used to doing and he worked really hard.

"In the first half we were far superior and in the second we were made to suffer, yet he was always willing to help.

"I'm very happy with him and the whole team."
