Real Madrid boss Zidane defends players after Real Betis draw

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane defended his players after their 0-0 draw with Real Betis.

Despite the result, Zidane suggested that Real Madrid performed with perfect rhythm and intensity but simply failed to convert their chances.

Joel Robles was in fine form, making a number of saves in either half, but in truth Los Blancos' finishing was consistently poor and lacked any real precision.

"Our rhythm, intensity and overall game were all perfect, we just have to put the ball in the net," Zidane admitted in his post-match press conference.

"We have missed the [elusive] goal, clearly.

"We had many chances from the first minute and only lacked the finish."

Real Betis almost stole the lead themselves through Nabil Fekir, and the French coach was acutely aware of the qualities the Seville side had.

"Betis are a good team, with very good individual players," Zidane added.

"In the entire first half we were superior in every way, I repeat that we only lacked a goal.

"The second half was more even, but today hasn't been too bad."
