Real Madrid and Manchester City have joined the race for Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella.

Local Sardinian publication La Nuova Sardegnarecently reported that Liverpool were showing an interest in the 24-year-old.

The Reds are on the hunt for a replacement for soon-to-be free agent Emre Can.

Other clubs that have been with Barella include Juventus and Inter Milan.

And now the Daily Star have added Real and City to that list.

The Italian has scored six times in 28 appearances for the Serie A club this term.
