Real Madrid ahead of Barcelona, Man Utd as most productive training club

The CIES Football Observatory have released figures on the most productive training clubs in European football.

Spanish giants Real Madrid tops the list with 41 players in the top 5 European leagues the came through the training system of the club.

Los Blancos are ahead of Spanish rivals Barcelona and Premier League side Manchester United, while French outfit Olympique Lyon, and Spanish duo Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad (joint 5th) round out the top 5.

The CIES definition of a training club is: "…the training clubs of players are teams having employed them for at least three seasons between the ages of 15 and 21."

The list below highlights the amount of players that fit that bill who are currently active in Europe's big five competitions.

The first number denotes the amount of players at the club in question, while the second number denotes the amount of players who trained at the club in question before moving on.

The highlighted number, of course, denotes the overall total.
