Real Betis veteran Joaquin proud to score on record-breaking day

Real Betis veteran Joaquin was delighted to reach his appearances record with a goal in their draw with Getafe.

Betis had been trailing and were playing with a man less when Nabil Fekir earned a penalty which Joaquin converted.

The captain of the Andalusian side equalled Julio Cardenosa at 307 career matches in the top flight on Sunday.

"I am happy because they are important records at the club and the team of my life," Joaquin said after the game.

"They are numbers that excite you, but I have always said that for me it is very beautiful, very special and I will always be there.

"For me it is more important is to be there, to be important in the team and to continue helping."

The 38-year-old has reached 400 games in all competitions with Real Betis in his 20th campaign as a professional football player.

In total, he has played 778 official games including spells at Valencia, Fiorentina and Malaga.
