Real Betis have made contact with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.

AS says with Betis coach Rubi still under pressure going into the winter break, an approach was made to Pochettino soon after his sacking at Spurs.

The approach was informal and the Argentine's response was negative.

Meanwhile, Quique Setien is also being discussed at Betis as a replacement for Rubi, having been axed by the Seville giants last season.

Rubi, for the moment, still has support inside the board room, particularly after securing ten points from the last 15 available. However, there are talks among Betis directors regarding a replacement should the recent momentum be lost when the LaLiga resumes.
