Real Betis chief Serra Ferrer: We messed up with Sanabria deal

Real Betis sports chief Lorenzo Serra Ferrer admits they fluffed their transfer work this past season.

Serra Ferrer says one of the big errors was letting Antonio Sanabria leave for Genoa before finding a replacement.

He stated: "Of course there has been (mistakes), no doubt, you can always see that things could have been done better.

"It is true that the president, the CEO and I knew exactly what positions we could improve or reinforce, having a squad of a very good level.

"It's true that maybe we were wrong to let Sanabria out before we signed a centre forward, but the player's insistence on playing and being able to place him in a team that also had a lot of interest, with the certainty that we could bring a forward, made up our mind. But in the end there were no circumstances or possibilities."
