Real Betis captain Joaquin hits first career hat-trick - at 38

Joaquin has scored a first career hat-trick as the veteran helped Real Betis to a 3-2 win over Athletic Bilbao.

The Real Betis captain scored the first hat-trick of his career, becoming the oldest player in LaLiga Santander history to do so, taking his tally for the season to six goals.

Right-back Emerson set Joaquin up for his first, chesting the ball down and firing past Unai Simon.

Ten minutes later, a cross from the other flank, this time from Alex Moreno, allowed him to set up Joaquin, whose effort hit the left post and went in.

Another nine minutes later, the 38-year-old secured his hat-trick with a counter-attack, which Loren Moron started and Joaquin finished, sparking joyous celebrations.
