Real Betis captain Joaquin has announced he will play on next season.

Now 40, Joaquin helped Betis win the Copa del Rey on Saturday, which went to a penalty shootout against Valencia.

"I do not know if I will destroy a plan I have out there, but I'm very sorry. I will continue for another year," laughed Joaquin.

The winger has scored two goals and four assists in 32 competitive matches for Real Betis this season.

Joaquin had declared in November he was likely to hang up the boots this summer.
