Reading determined to retain Wolves, West Brom, Stoke target Mills

Championship club Reading are determined to keep captain Matt Mills from departing.

The 24-year old centre-half has emerged as a strong target for a trio of Premier League clubs with Wolves, West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City all showing considerable interest whilst Blackburn Rovers also believed to be sniffing around.

But Royals manager Brian McDermott says he will fight to keep the inspirational skipper at the Madejski Stadium.

"It's a good group here and the group is everything to me. We want to keep our best players. There will be interest in a lot of our players, for sure. When it comes about and is concrete then clubs will speak," he said.

"If something comes then we will make a decision on what's right for the club. From my point of view we want to keep this group together."
