Reading defender Tyler Blackett has explained his decision to leave Manchester United.

He admits leaving Old Trafford was a tough decision to make but says the lure of first-team football was too good to turn down.

Blackett told the Daily Star: “It's one of those things. You don't want to leave a big club like Manchester United.

“But for me personally I needed to take a step forward in terms of playing time, getting games and obviously under the right manager as well.

“So far things have worked out for me."
