Reading boss Jaap Stam is hoping to sign Tyler Blackett on loan from Manchester United.

Reports suggest that the new Royals manager wants to raid his former club by bringing the 22-year-old defender to the Madejski Stadium on a season-long loan.

England U21 international Blackett spent time with Celtic last season but managed just eight appearances for the Scottish champions.

Stam reportedly sees Blackett as the perfect player to strengthen his Reading squad while hoping to develop the youngster for a future assault on the United first team.
