Reading boss Steve Coppell was delighted to hand teenager James Henry his debut in this week's Carling Cup defeat by Liverpool.
He told the Royals website: "Yes, but he didn't have long enough really to make an impression. He had a couple of crosses, he was unfortunate with the ricochet back off him to go out for a throw.
"It's still very much the holy grail of this club to produce a home grown player who is consistent week by week.
"Eamonn Dolan and the Academy are working very hard to produce that player. James is just one of a number of players that we think are capable of doing that. But we are never going to find out until they force themselves into recognition.
"It's still ongoing, he did alright and now he has got to continue to work hard, practice hard and force his way in to the team."
