Steve Coppell insists there has been no approach for Nicky Shorey, while the defender is looking forward to having more talks about a new contract.
Newcastle and West Ham have both been mentioned in connection with Shorey, who has two years remaining on his current contract.
The Reading left-back impressed last season but Coppell admits he is growing tired of speculation linking him with a number of other Premier League clubs.
"There has been no approach," Coppell told Sky Sports News.
"Just because we are producing good players does not mean they have to move on.
"We had one player, Steve Sidwell, who left because he was at the end of his contract.
"We don't have that situation with any of our present squad."
