Steve Coppell is expected to resign as Reading manager today.

The Mirror says Coppell will quit as manager of relegated Reading today after a meeting with chairman John Madejski.

Coppell has told friends he does not fancy a shot at trying to bring the Royals up from the Championship again.

Even a thumping 4-0 win at Derby yesterday could not save Reading.

Coppell did Madejski the courtesy of not resigning on the spot last night, despite fears among club officials that he would do so.

But he will formally tell the Royals' millionaire owner today he wants out.
