Everton manager Roberto Martinez has heaped praise on Samuel Eto'o for using his experience and showing leadership on Thursday night.
The 33-year old Cameroon striker marked his return to Russia by scoring the equaliser in his side's 1-1 draw with Kuban Krasnodar in Group H of the Europa League.
Former Anzhi Makhachkala striker Eto'o canceled out Ari's 43rd-minute opener when he turned home Leighton Baines' cross in the 82nd minute and it is that experience that Martinez is counting on if Everton's first campaign in Europe in five years is to be a success.
"It's really important and that's why this is such a fantastic learning curve for us," he td ITV4.
"If you come to a place like today it's easy not to be yourself and that's where you need the experience of waiting for your moment. Samuel has that."
Everton's draw has them sitting on top of the Group H table on four points, two ahead of Krasnodar and French club Lille who drew 1-1 with Wolfsburg in Germany.
