RB Leipzig coach Nagelsmann: Ampadu will start against Tottenham

Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu will start for RB Leipzig in their Champions League clash with Tottenham.

RBL have been hit by a rash of defensive injuries, leaving coach Juliann Nagelsmann having to turn to on-loan Ampadu.

The youngster enjoyed an hour in victory over Werder Bremen on the weekend and Nagelsmann says he's ready to face Spurs in the first-leg of their round 16 tie.

He said, “I wanted to see how Ethan does things centrally.

"It was about giving him a bit of rhythm under good competition conditions when he has to go on Wednesday. He did it properly.

"But there are a few things he can do better and on Wednesday he will have to do even more for the game. But he doesn't have much playing time, so it was absolutely fine."

Ampadu's last game was two months ago, where he managed 35 minutes in the 2-2 draw at Champions League opponents Lyon.
