Former Tottenham football chief Paul Mitchell is emerging as favourite for the technical director's post at Manchester United.
United are creating the position in an effort to strengthen their transfer work.
The Telegraph says a raft of candidates have been considered, with Mitchell impressing United vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
Currently with RB Leipzig, Mitchell has previous Premier League experience with Spurs and Southampton.
Andrea Berta (Atletico Madrid), Monchi (Roma), Fabio Paratici (Juventus) and Edwin van der Sar (Ajax) have also been linked with the post.
