RB Leipzig ace Timo Werner would have to accept a reserves role if wishes to join Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool in January.
Liverpool have been linked with Werner for some time, with the RB Leipzig star flourishing under Julian Nagelsmann in the Bundesliga this season.
Bleacher Report says the Germany international would have to agree to be a back-up under Klopp in order to make the move to Anfield.
Roberto Firmino occupies Werner's No 9 role and has excelled there, playing a key role in their charge to the Premier League summit.
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane often play alongside the Brazil international, meaning Xherdan Shaqiri regularly has to make do with a place on the bench.
And Werner may have to do the same, reports the Daily Express.
However, in doing that, the Germany star puts his chances of making Joachim Low's Euro 2020 squad at risk.
