Rayo Vallecano striker Raul de Tomas says his hat-trick against Celta Vigo justifies his decision to leave Real Madrid.
De Tomas, on-loan from Real, hit his treble on Friday night for the 4-2 win.
"I could have been at Real Madrid [this season]," he said to COPE.
"Julen Lopetegui wanted me to stay but I am a competitive person and I didn't want to spend the year sitting on the bench.
"I would have had some chances but competing like I am now is what really helps you to grow and that's why I wanted to be here."
