Rayo Vallecano have made contact with departing Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguay international's deal at United expires this month.

Marca says Rayo have approached Cavani about a move to Spain, but his €4m salary demands are proving too rich.

Should he agree to drop his terms, Rayo will seek to deal him in.

Cavani would join a Rayo squad already boasting a revived Radamel Falcao.
