Raul Jimenez deal shows Wolves progress - Doherty

Raul Jimenez's permanent move to Wolves is indicative of far the club has come, according to right-back Matt Doherty.

The Mexico international, who has scored 16 times across all competitions this season, will see his loan deal become permanent in the summer after Wolves agreed a £32million deal with Benfica.

Doherty said on the signing to theExpress & Star: "He has been a great player for us.

"He's been absolutely fantastic. His stats probably speak for themselves, he's got goals, he's got assists, but it's not only that, just his performances in general, the way he holds the ball up, the way he works hard for the team, so as a teammate I'm obviously delighted to see him to commit his future long-term to the club.

"For someone of his quality to sign permanently to Wolves and commit their future for the next four years, I'm over the moon.

"I'm very happy for Raul, especially with this being his first season in the Premier League. He's just taken to it.

"Not many players are able to do that. People usually say it takes time to adapt but he's kicked on straight away with goals and hit the ground running."
