Manchester United prospective buyer Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been working on his plans for the club.
Ratcliffe, who is competing with the Qatari royal family to try and buy the Red Devils, is even willing to take a minority stake at the club at first.
Per CBS Sports, he has also identified Paul Mitchell as a candidate to become the club's sporting director.
United have struggled with their recruitment of players for the better part of a decade.
The club currently have John Murtaugh serving in the role, but any change in ownership would likely signal the end of his time at United.
Mitchell, who recently departed AS Monaco, is highly regarded by several Premier League clubs.
