Ranieri praises resilient Leicester after Porto triumph

Claudio Ranieri was full of praise for his Leicester City side after they defeated FC Porto 1-0 in the Champions League.

The Foxes made it two from two in Europe's top flight courtesy of Islam Slimani's 25th-minute header as he returned to haunt the Portuguese giants following his spell at Sporting Lisbon.

Porto pressed hard for an equaliser in the second half but Leicester held out to remain top of the Group G table, much to the delight of Ranieri.

"We suffered in the last 10mins but it was important to win," said the Italian.

"Concentration was high, we were resilient, I'm very happy.

"We played with our spirit tonight. The last pass wasn't always there, but Riyad (Mahrez) made one fantastic pass for Slimani."

Leicester will now focus on the weekend's Premier League clash with Southampton at home after losing 4-1 to Manchester United on Saturday.
