Claudio Ranieri believes Unai Emery will struggle to make an instant impact at Arsenal.
Former Paris Saint-Germain boss Emery is set to be appointed as the successor to Arsene Wenger later this week after the Gunners' detailed search for a new manager brought them to the Spaniard.
"Unai is a good man and a good coach," said former Chelsea and Leicester boss Ranieri, who faced off against Emery whilst manager of Nantes.
"He made a very good season in Paris St Germain - but you know in Paris you have to win the Champions League, and only the Champions League, that is the target there."
Speaking on Sky Sports News, he added: "I think now maybe [the new Arsenal manager] needs three, four years to stay calm and then restart, but football is fantastic because you never know what could happen.
"Unai is a very strong man, a good manager and I think he could have very good success there."
