Ralf Rangnick has revealed he had a chance to takeover Chelsea as interim manager.
The 62-year-old is currently working with Red Bull as their head of sport and development.
Chelsea attempted to sign Rangnick as Frank Lampard's replacement on a short-term basis, but the German wanted a longer contract.
"I said: 'I would like to come and work with you, but I can't do it for four months. I'm not an interim coach'," Rangnick told The Times.
"It would have to be something special. It depends on the club and whether you want to work with a German coach."
The job was eventually handed to Thomas Tuchel, who has yet to lose in his five games in charge.
