Rangers winger Burke to resist Birmingham approach

Rangers winger Chris Burke will resist an offer from Birmingham City.

Scotland on Sunday says the 24-year-old winger has barely featured since Walter Smith's return to the club. And former Scotland boss Alex McLeish, whom Burke excelled under during his Rangers tenure, is desperate to land the frozen-out star.

Clyde gaffer Colin Hendry has also made an approach for the twice-capped Scot, but it's understood Burke sees a loan switch to the First Division as too much of step down. The Rangers winger rejected a move to Birmingham's rivals Aston Villa in August when Martin O'Neill came calling. And he's ready to snub another Premiership bid from his old gaffer McLeish in order to fight for his future with Rangers.
