Rangers target McKay focused on Australia duties

Matt McKay says he won't let transfer talk affect his focus for Australia's friendly this week.

The Socceroos meet Wales in Cardiff on Wednesday and the Brisbane Roar skipper, who is reportedly on the verge of joining Scottish champions Rangers, says he is only paying attention to his national team duties although talk of a move to Europe is enticing.

"It's an opportunity I've never had before. I've never played in Europe before and it's something that's always enticed me and to have that opportunity is great," he said.

"We'll wait and see if things pan out into a move, but at the moment I'm really looking forward to this game on Wednesday.

"It's the last opportunity before the game on September 2 in Brisbane," McKay added.

"It's for Holger (Osieck) to work on a few things and make sure we're right.

"We've got a strong squad here and we want to go out and win the game and keep our winning record afloat."
