The Scottish giants have not identified the bidding club, however 24-year-old Boyd has reportedly been the subject of a £2.5million offer from last season's FA Cup finalists.
A statement from Rangers read: "In light of media reports today, Rangers Football Club can confirm we have received a bid for striker Kris Boyd which was rejected."
A move to Ninian Park would see Boyd join former Rangers players Steven Thompson and Gavin Rae, but he could take some persuading to switch to the Coca-Cola Championship.
Boyd netted 25 goals for Rangers last season despite making just 23 starts and had a major role to play in the capture of both the CIS and Scottish Cups.
But his failure to hold down a regular place in Walter Smith's plans led to talk he could be set for a summer move.
