Rangers keeper Carroll completes Derby switch

Roy Carroll has finally completed his delayed move to Derby following Rangers' capture of replacement goalkeeper Neil Alexander on Wednesday.

The Rams initially thought they had signed the Northern Ireland international last Thursday but the move went on hold as Rangers boss Walter Smith looked to sign another keeper.

Now that the Glasgow club have snapped up Scotland international Alexander from Ipswich it has enabled Carroll to make his move until the end of the season.

Rams boss Paul Jewell expressed his relief on the club's official website, saying: "It has been a protracted deal but I believe it will be worth the wait because Roy is a great pro and he will come straight into contention for Saturday's game at Birmingham."
