Rangers are hoping to sign Aston Villa outcast Joleon Lescott, according to the Daily Express.

The report claims that Rangers boss Mark Warburton has already held talks with the 34-year-old regarding a possible move to Ibrox.

The former England international still has a year left on his current deal with Villa, but he doesn't feature in the plans of manager Roberto De Matteo and has been asked to train with the reserves.

It is expected that Villa will allow him to leave on free if he manages to find another club.
