Rangers fans abuse midfielder Edu

Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu has claimed fans of his own club abused him during Tuesday night's Champions League loss at Ibrox.

The Scottish giants lost 4-1 to Romanian outfit Unirea Urziceni in front of angry home fans and USA international Edu, who played no part in the game, copped the wrath of the supporters.

On his Twitter page, Edu says he was racially abused when he was leaving the stadium to get in his car.

"Not sure what hurt more: result last nite or being racially abused by couple of r own fans as I'm getting in my car," Edu wrote.

After incident came to light, the Rangers Supporters Trust came forward and said that anybody guilty of racial abuse should be punished.

RST spokesman David Edgar said: "We would absolutely condemn that if that's the case.

"These are not Rangers fans and they should be caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law."
