Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has tried to stop Leon King from joining a top Premier League club.
The 16-year-old defender is subject of interest from top teams in England, such as Chelsea and Gerrard's former club Liverpool.
But Gerrard has spoken with King and asked him to sign a new deal with Rangers, which would be his first professional contract.
Gerrard believes the 16-year-old would be better served developing at the Scottish club.
The report comes from the Daily Express.
King has rejected a previous offer from Rangers, but Gerrard hopes that his personal plea will convince the player to sign the next offer that is made.
