QPR boss Chris Ramsey says he's happy to count on Alex McCarthy.
QPR beat Liverpool to sign the former Reading goalkeeper, who has acted as backup to Robert Green.
"He's probably learned a lot from Rob, and he would probably look at it philosophically and think had he been in any other team this season he would have played more," Ramsey said.
"You'd like to have that level of competition all round the pitch. You have sympathy for anyone who doesn't further their career.
"But I'm glad in a funny sort of way he's not played because it means Rob has played to the level he has."
