Ramsey planning to make central midfield spot his own at Arsenal

Aaron Ramsey is hopeful of making a mark as a central midfielder for Arsenal during the absence of Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin.

Arsenal were handed a double injury blow recently when Cazorla and Coquelin were ruled out for a couple of months respectively.

In the absence of the duo, the returning Ramsey will be filling the void in the middle of the park and the Welshman is keen on making the most of the opportunity to play in his favoured position.

After scoring and providing an assist in Saturday's 3-1 win over Sunderland, Ramsey said: "I wish Santi a speedy recovery, and Francis as well. We have been hit hard by injuries this season but it gives players the opportunities to take.

"I have made no secret that I prefer to play in the middle and hopefully now I can stay there.

"My performance today was good and hopefully I can keep building on that now to play where I prefer to play."
