Ramos concedes Real Madrid flat for Athletic Bilbao point

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos admitted frustration after their 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao.

Ramos conceded they were lethargic at San Mames.

He said, “It's a demanding place for visiting sides to come. We were well aware that this is one of the toughest away trips in the division. The fans here really get behind their team and, that aside, Athletic know exactly what their game is all about. We knew that we'd be in for a tough test.

"In the first half, we struggled to move the ball around but we improved after the break and that told in the final result. It's an underwhelming result because we would have liked to have put another three points on the board, but we've now got to focus on our next game."

He added: "I'll have to watch the game back and analyse it, but we certainly lacked pace to create spaces in the first 45 minutes. They defended well, they know how to defend as a unit and stay compact and it's really difficult to ask any questions of them. In the second half, we managed to break beyond that first line of pressure and were able to pick our passes better."
