Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid believes getting the opportunity to play again so quickly could help his side recover from the weekend's heavy defeat to the Colorado Rapids.
The Sounders were hammered 5-1 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, which was their first defeat since August, but a Wednesday fixture against Cascadia rivals Vancouver Whitecaps gives them the chance to return to winning form according to Schmid.
"A quick turnaround makes it easier. You know you have a game coming up on Wednesday so you can't sit and stew in it all week," he said.
"We know what our task is for Wednesday. We want to secure a playoff spot Wednesday. We haven't done that yet and we'd like to wrap up Cascadia Cup if we can.
"Those are our objectives for Wednesday. We have to come back and we have to show who we are and what we are. Saturday night in Colorado, in Denver, was not who we are."
