Queiroz has long complained about seeing Makelele sold to Chelsea during his time in charge - and his opinion hasn't changed.
He told Tribuna Expresso: "With (Fernando) Morientes, after the Supercopa, I spoke with him and said, 'See you Tuesday' and he answered 'Tuesday? Do not you know that they have given me to Monaco?'
"I did not know anything but, well, I still had Makelele and I decided to put (Ivan) Helguera in the centre and he was even good ... But then, Makelele goes to Chelsea because he did not sell shirts and so that (David) Beckham could play in the middle, Beckham played on the wing and when he came to Real Madrid we already had (Luis) Figo there."
