Queensland Roar have eased some financial pressure by clinching a new stadium agreement at Suncorp Stadium. The new deal is likely to save the Roar about $500,000 in a major boost for the club which is struggling in the current economic climate.
Chief executive Laurence Oudendyk confirmed the new agreement saying, "We'll get a much improved stadium hiring agreement. Our sponsors are on board for next season.
"We've got every reason to be optimistic.
"These kind of (demise) rumours are never any good for any type of commercial operation, but obviously they're just that - rumours that are unfounded.
"We estimate we will be saving about $500,000 a year with the new deal ... it's a hell of a lot of money.
"We stabbed in the dark when we signed our original deal. Now we understand our market a lot better after four years."
