The Queensland Government are confident of soon locking away a glamour friendly with Scottish giants Celtic. Sports Minister, Hon. Phil Reeves said in a statement tonight: "The Scottish football super-power is considering visiting Australia as part of their pre-season preparation and the prospect of having Celtic play the Queensland Roar in a friendly is looking promising.
"The feedback I am getting is very positive. Celtic has a number of international options at their disposal but have indicated they are keen to include Australia on their itinerary.
"If they come to Australia, it will be for one game only, in Brisbane. This is another example of how the State Government's decision to build a world-class stadium can attract world renowned sporting teams.
"Brisbane benefits economically from the fans an event such as this will attract from interstate and possibly overseas and Queenslanders get to one of the great teams in football in their own backyard.
"All going well, I expect to be able to make a further announcement about developments in the coming week.
