QPR are closing in on the signing of Wigan Athletic defender James Perch.

According to Sky Sports, the R's have agreed a fee of £750,000 for the 29-year-old who has spent the past two seasons with the Latics.

Following Wigan's relegation to League One, former Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United man Perch has been keen to move on and will now get the chance to return to the Championship after QPR's drop from the Premier League.

Perch will add versatility to Chris Ramsey's squad at Loftus Road as he can play comfortably in central defence, at right-back or as a defensive midfielder.
