QPR keeper McCarthy set for Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace are close to completing a deal for QPR goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

Following QPR's relegation to the Championship, Palace have instigated a release clause in the 25-year-old's contract, allowing him to join Alan Pardew and his squad in Cape Town, South Africa for pre-season training.

McCarthy's £3.5million arrival at QPR will most likely see Eagles back-up keeper Wayne Hennessey make a move to West Bromwich Albion, allowing McCarthy to battle it out with Julian Speroin for the Selhurst Park starting position.
