Former Aston Villa captain Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed Chelsea defender Toni Rudiger for his role in Real Madrid's third goal in midweek.
While goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has been blamed for his underhit pass, Agbonlahor insists Rudiger should've been stronger in the tackle as Karim Benzeman swept home his third goal of the night.
"It was a bad pass from Mendy, but Rudiger's approach was that of someone who didn't want to be injured. It was like he had a confirmed transfer [at the end of the season] and he didn't want to get hurt," said Agbonlahor on TalkSport.
For his part, Mario Melchiot, former Chelsea defender, expressed the same opinion.
"I agree, he could have been tougher [in approaching the bid with Benzema]," he said.
"Besides, he went with his left foot instead of his right and, normally, if he blocked with his right, and if he went all the way, he wins the ball."
