Pundit Menes blasts Lyon fans after Depay clash: Why spoil the party?

French pundit Pierre Menes has taken aim at Olympique Lyon fans barracking their own players this week.

OL captain Memphis Depay clashed with supporters after one entered the field at the end of their 2-2 Champions League draw with RB Leipzig holding a disparaging sign aimed at Depay's teammate Marcelo.

Menes defended the former Manchester United winger, writing for his personal blog: "One last word to finish regarding the post-match incidents.

"This miraculous qualification should have provoked a sort of truce or, let's say, a little current of general euphoria in the bays of Groupama Stadium.

"But no, it was necessary for a supporter to come with an insulting sign towards Marcelo, which provoked Depay's big anger.

"Once again, these are 'supporters' who think they are allowed, who insult the players and who, in the end, spoil the little party that this qualification deserves."
