Leicester City boss Claude Puel hopes James Maddison can make the club proud if he makes his England debut this week.

Maddison, 21, earned his first call-up from Gareth Southgate for the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Croatia and Spain.

"We know his quality of course and I hope he can have some game time with the national team," said Puel.

"We know his quality and he can influence the game and play with a different tempo.

"For now he has taken the first step. For a young player like him or Demarai or Ben, these are the first steps.

"Now we must encourage them to keep their focus and concentration.

"This is a good reward but it is only the beginning. They need to show good consistency for Leicester now and if they play well consistently in all their games then of course they will continue to improve, and Gareth can then see them progress."
