PSV Eindhoven midfielder Gaston Pereiro is in Italy to conclude a move to Cagliari.

There were suggestions that he would sign for Aston Villa in the Premier League.

But it appears the 24-year-old is bound for Italy, as the club have come closest to meeting Cagliari's asking price.

Gianluca Di Marzio claims the player is closing in on the move and will sign a four and a half year deal with the Serie A side.

Pereiro has played only eight games for PSV this season, with only one of those coming in the league.
