Released Blackburn Rovers defender Andre Ooijer says Paul Robinson is England's best goalkeeper.

PSV Eindhoven signing Ooijer said: "I am surprised he is not already England's first choice in goal because he has had a very good season for us, especially the last few months.

"Some of the saves he has made have been world class. He has really produced for Blackburn when it was needed and it can't have gone unnoticed by the England management.

"I know there are some other very good goalkeepers in the country, but from the ones we have played against this season I don't think there are any better than Paul Robinson."

Ooijer added: "He is obviously a younger goalkeeper and has many years left. If he can improving then that is only good for Blackburn Rovers.

"By next summer I hope he has returned to be England's first choice and wouldn't it be great to play against him in the World Cup final? A long before that though I know.

"Hopefully there will be a few reunions next summer. Players like Benni McCarthy, Ryan Nelsen, maybe Stephen Warnock. It is an exciting prospect."
