PSV Eindhoven have made a move for Aston Villa defender Wilfred Bouma.

The 32-year-old joined Villa from PSV back in 2005 but suffered an ankle dislocation in July 2008 which prevented the Holland international from making an appearance for Martin O'Neill's side ever since.

"Freddi hasn't played much in the past two years, so we'll have to wait and see what he's capable of," admitted PSV coach Fred Rutten.

"However, we have the intention to offer him a contract if he turns out to be fully match fit."
